But why Mishima, why not over Baudelaire or even F. Scott Fitgerald instead though? They may not have a cultish, death-worshipping magnetism or Mishima, but they are quite valuable works of art regardless.

>You are only saying he's gay because of cultrue war
And so the cat comes out of the bag, thanks for showing everybody here that you are here for a culture war rather than a legitimate argument.

Whoa whoa whoa, there is nothing wrong with Epictetus. The others, sure. Marie Kondo's philosophy especially you can sum up with "if it doesn't spark joy, get rid of it".

If this is true, I am incredibly happy.
The west lost all its potency, and so its philosophic potency. Nothing new happened with philosophy since the sixties, that is sixty damned years. But if it finally truly penetrates China (for their traditional moral teaching is not really philosophy in the true sense), we might have true philosophy again.
You made my day better, thank you.

Forget all that. Read the following in the order listed:

Forget Birth of Tragedy. It's honestly not that interesting, considering what Nietzsche became about. It's a good first book, the way that you might judge the pilot of a good show.
Start and Read
Philosophy in the Tragic Age of the Greeks or On the Future of our Educational Institutions (i recommend the former)
Schopenhauer as Educator
The Gay Science
If you can bear it, read zarathustra, even though you won't get anything from it. Some phrases and recurring themes will stick with you, and you'll see them recurring in clearer terms in subsequent and prior books.
Beyond Good and Evil - keep in mind its ALL about the new kind of philosopher. Don't get lost in his little tangets about free will and determinism, his drive bys on various philosophers and ideas. The whole book is about what the subtitle says, it's about the philosophy of the future, to be practiced by the philosopher of the future. Stop and read twice every section in which you see hints of it.
Genealogy of Morals - its a companion to BGE, but also a kind of sample to academia for what they should be doing, to be good nietzscheans. I know Webber and Foucault picks up the mantle, and change things up in their own way.
Spend a lot of time on Twilight of Idols (it's a good summary of what he's about (or became about), and he says so. it's a fun little book and fairly straight forward.
Ecce Homo - his argument for why he embodies this new type of philosopher heralded in BGE. it is a sincere book, don't listen to those who see it as a parody of the autobiographical genre.
Go back and read Zarathustra, then BGE again

the center of Nietzsche, the essence of his mature life are Gay Science, Zarathustra, BGE and Genealogy. Zarathustra stands at the center, and the rest mentioned are needed to understand Zarathustra.

I can answer some quick questions if you have them. I will say, though, that you're probably wasting your time. I've studied Nietzsche for over a decade, and it takes a long time to get a real sense of what he's about. That's not to say that you can't get some really good ideas, but to have an idea of what he was trying to do, you have to navigate the labyrinth of his works for a good while.

aha. no worries, your syntax was fine, it was the rhetoric that sounded more foreign to me.
i don't necessarily know that what you say about chasing "fresh love" applies to those stories specifically, although it is a good message. i really think you should read the awakening, because the end of that book sort of chastises the protag for her irresponsibility. so she basically divorces (i say basically because you couldn't divorce during that time period without social rejection) her husband for another lover. the problem is, at least how i saw it, is that she then began to see her relationship in purely sexual terms rather than as a romantic, or marriage-like, one. the book even ends with her drowning herself. you might be right as far as the storm is concerned, though. and you're right, the affairs did look the same, but i think back then they may have been more justifiable. i don't think there are the same excuses nowadays.
nice. political science and economics books are more my forte and i've been wanting to read a history one. what's the one about north korea called?

It aint nuthin but a lil' small-ass ghetto, itz a lil' small-ass ghetto
It aint nuthin but a lil' small-ass ghetto, itz a lil' small-ass ghetto

It aint nuthin but a ghetto of laughter, a ghetto of tears
It aint nuthin but a ghetto of hope n' a ghetto of fears
Therez so much dat we share, dat itz time we aware
It aint nuthin but a lil' small-ass ghetto afta all

(All Y'all now) itz a lil' small-ass ghetto afta all, itz a lil' small-ass ghetto afta all
(All Y'all now) itz a lil' small-ass ghetto afta all, itz a small, small, small, lil' small-ass ghetto

There is just one moon n' one golden sun
And a smile means thang ta everyone
Though tha mountains be wide n' tha oceans is wide
It aint nuthin but a lil' small-ass ghetto afta all (Come on, come on)
