Yeah I like that cover a lot too, if it makes you feel better apparently it has errors in it. Pic related is probably the next best thing and you can find it for like $3

Dropped this after 200-or so pages a few weeks ago, but feeling the strange urge to return to it again. I'm guessing I just wasn't in the right mindspace.

I finished it 3 days ago and I feel like I have finished literature. I haven't been able to read anything since, except some poems of Yeats and some pages of Burroughs.

What do I need to read before getting into V by Pynchon?

Why is rachel such a fucking bitch?

V.
After reading GR, I expected V. to come down on me like a sack of jelly and ADHD on LSD, but it turned out comfy as fuck.

Are all the 8 main characters in chapter 3 just Stencil in disguise? Even with all their intricate backstories?

So I just finished Pynchon's V, and while I must say it's way better than Crying of Lot 49, and I really liked the writing style and the book itself.

But I just felt like going through a short stories collection as every chapter went by, only that each story was vaguely connected. Is this what it has to feel like or am I just missing the narrative link?

I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I have understood it at all. My favorite chapter was the operation, that's for sure. It's a great scene.

Hey everyone, I'm rereading v by thomas pynchon and this time, I'm trying to make more of a conscious effort to understand everything that he's saying rather than just take it all in as it comes.

my question comes from this passage

"even as the N.O.B. band is playing Auld Lang Syne and the destroyers are blowing stacks in black flakes all over the cuckolds-to-be"

What did he mean when he said the "destroyers are blowing stacks in black flakes" it's on the 3rd page of the novel and I get that the destroyers could be random assholes in the bar but I have no real clue what he meant by that and I figured one of you would.

How do you keep your mind from wondering while you're reading?

I just found out from an article that the first American edition of Pynchon's V. was later corrected by Pynchon in time for the British edition and subsequent editions, but many american reprints continued to use the uncorrected version by simple negligence. Does anyone have a list of editions and publishers that have the corrected final version? This would come pretty handy since I'm considering buying a physical copy of this one after having read it in digital format a few years ago.
Also book covers of the corrected version would be the best.
