Where do I begin with Phlosophy, /lit/?

How old were you when you realized that Dawkins isn't actually advocating atheism/anti-theism but an Ultra-Darwinian ideology where natural selection works through a 100% adaption-based system, is fully reductionist, and is universally applicable to everything?

In 2006 my high school classmate recommended me reading The God Delusion. I have since postponed it until recently.
I usually give books 50 or so pages before i decide whether to continue reading or not. After 60 or so pages i get the feeling that he has too high expectations on the reader and expects me to understand whatever reference he makes.
I am now 100+ pages in and it now feels to me like he is even looking down at the reader and i don't really feel like continue reading at all.

Did you read this book? Did you ever get the same vibe?
Is it really worth to finish the book or should i just go and read something else?

What did Dawkins mean when he said this? I apologize if this doesn't belong in /lit/, and I also understand I run the risk of looking like a big, dumb idiotface by asking this.
