I disagree. The reason why minority or otherwise oppressed groups (there are more women than men worldwide) are having so much emphasis placed on their voices is because they have never been appreciated by as wide an audience as they are today.

Basically, the logic is the same as affirmative action: technically you’re discriminating against other groups (usually heterosexual Caucasian men), but this is only to lessen the amount of bias against oppressed groups, and to give them a chance to catch up. You can’t expect those who have been enslaved, discriminated against, and forced into poverty, crime, isolation, and/or pushed into low self-esteem to be able to perform as well as their unoppressed counterparts.
