because in the 60s and 70s urban cores were ruined by massive government subsidization of sprawl (highways, cities without sidewalks) that made driving necessary almost everywhere for the first time

What's the point of this late capitalism shit if hierarchies, alphas, betas, etc. exist everywhere? E.g., schools, universities (i.e. communes) social life and so on?

I could choose to work. But I could choose to read books, only to be put in to a heirarchy because I don't like Dickens. I could be with friends but I'd be the beta friend or unnecessary wheel.

Is a lot of critical theory just upper class lefties mad they're not top of the pack?

Have you noticed the huge irony that the people who go on about the Ancient Greeks being so important wouldn't pay any attention to Socrates or Plato or Aristotle if they were born during their era? They'd be too busy wanking over the Ancient Egyptians.

And so on back in time, until the first group of humans would have some people claiming that Neanderthal mud paintings are the most profound thoughts of all time and only a disgusting pleb could think otherwise.

I am looking for a conservative magazine to pitch a piece to. I am an editor of another magazine so I am not so random schlub.

I already pitched to The American Conservative (whom I like a lot), but the editor said they are backed up until mid-October.

No neocon shit like NRO please

Have you realised yet that literature is a near dead medium that has descended in to artfaggotry? Or do you really think that Tao Lin and Mira Gonzalez are worthwhile?

Poetry, painting, music, and other things are definitively dead as well.

Icy Calm was right. The descent of an art form in to death and artfaggotry is due to technology and the creation of new art forms.

Personally I don't think books are completely replaceable by other media but when the talent is fucking drained out of it and there are now thousands more ways to both express and appreciate creativity than writing or reading novels then why deny it? I will not give up on novels but I must become more ruthless in dropping novels if they're uninteresting.

1. "'Science can't tell us how to be moral,' sneered the Humanitiesfag extremely Jewishly." I agree, but why the hell do people who say this try to imply that philosophy can figure out objectively correct morals? Why do philosophaggots cry when you bring up the Munchhausen Trilemma? Is it because it is not conducive to self congratulatory mental masturbation?

2. How do you cope with the stress of keeping up with the Joneses in terms of reading about boring shit you wouldn't normally care about but you are told you have to care about? E.g., Greeks, continental philosophy, fiction (particularly the western canon etc.)

Have you noticed that religion is used solely for social posturing these days? If you suggest that the church may not have been the least bloodthirsty thing in the world in the past you get insulted.

I'm not saying that religion is the only conduit it greed and oppression, simply that it's a damn good one. Stop telling me to read the Bible or give a shit about a particular set of stories.

Zizek is bad with this as well. "Atheist Christian" my ass. His comedic / posturing routine really hits its apex when he talks about that shit.

Oh yeah, and of course you get people talking about religion in some faggy literary theory way rather than stuff that literally happened and they pretend the latter never happened. "It-it was a prank bro!"
