Junger has a book where the main character fucks a jew in the ass so fuck off. He was also given to blood lust in ww1 (which shouldn't be criticized, unless one becomes hipocritical) while Celine didn't buy into jingoism and loyalty to states that wouldn't even last another 10 years. But I suppose it's in Celine's nature to hammer a point thru with drastic language and it's in (old) Junger's to analyze and feel superior in passivity. The worst part of it all is the ridiculous gravity in which he speaks while "sipping brandy with little strawberrys" as artillery shells drop in the distance. JUNGER is the one making snap judgments based on criteria, not Celine. Celine is talking about overarching military operations, the kind Junger gladly participated in, which can never be precise by their nature as they outside the sphere of individual humanity. There is nothing personal about it. Junger, on the other hand, is face to face with an actual person and dismisses his personality under the banner of an ideology: nihilism. Ironically, it is also Celine who is truly apolitical, while Junger in his later life was always confusing "apolitical" for "politically correct" with his onanistic "anarch" idea. It's as if he thought he could put lines around thinking outside of the box. Once one declares themself to belong to any proper-noun-group, their revolt against meaningless and manipulative criteria ceases to be. And while all us lowly anonymous castaway invalids are talking about it, let's just call it what it is: namefagging.
