If you're wondering why they are praising something as great when to us it may not seem great at all is probably due to the attachments that come with using a site such as reddit.

On an imageboard, you do not have people worrying about their posts being downvoted--you can post retarded shit, such as this thread, and not have to worry about the people who disagree with you shutting you down by downvoting your comments or submissions into being hidden from others. When you have that voting system, a user is far more likely, when giving criticism, to coddle people. This is because they want to project an identity of themselves that seems nice and friendly--karma points factor into that too.

Whereas here, most people say whatever they feel like saying as they are not grounded by karma points or post history. An environment such as this one produces material that is more blunt and jaded--even to the point where someone could come off as being an asshole sometimes, as this environment attracts that release of unrestricted (not really, but you know what I mean) speech. It is a relief when you can say whatever is on your mind without having those attachments, so it's easy to come off as a dick when you're just trying to blow off some steam, or if you have had a shitty day, to take that out on some other faceless entity. One can even make pointless repetitive threads that they find mildly humorous to distract themselves as a form of escapism. That's why we come across countless stupid threads such as:

>What did he mean by this
>Is he, dare I say it, our guy?
>What went wrong
>etc

They serve their purpose though
