What do you all think of the Wheel Of Time series?? I've been meaning to take a peek into the fantasy genre again and I think this might be a good place to start.

I loved the series by Rothfuss, though I know it's not very well received here. Recommendations welcome.

Is this worth the time investment? Or does it go to shit after 3 books like asoiaf? What about the 3 books written by Sanderson?
Should I read the prequel first or not?

So I finally finished the Wheel of Time and am now looking for a new fantasy series to read. I've listed by author the books that I have read. I was hoping that lit could give me some recommendations. I was thinking of reading the Xanth series, the Sword of Truth, The Game of Thrones, or The Dreamers Series.

I always see you guy's bashing fantasy writers as fat, worthless retards. Have you heard of Robert Jordan(wrote the majority of the "Wheel of Time" series?

Graduated from military highschool and college, two tours in Vietnam, degree in physics and was hired on as a nuclear engineer by the US Navy.

I recently started reading this series of books and ran into this info, found it really interesting.

Greatest fantasy series of all time?

Does anyone else hate the wheel of time as much as I do? I got to book 7 and just stopped I couldn't read it anymore. Way too many povs, some of the worst written female characters I've ever seen, the main characters all being pansy push overs, its just rediculous. Hell half the novel is different people explaining why they are right and everything needs to be their way or all hell will break loose, the other half is all hell breaking loose because everyone wants to keep valuable information a secret.

tl;dr fuck wheel of time and its shitty female characters

I'm starting Wheel of Time soon. Should I start with New Spring or The Eye of the World?

Wheel Of Time is the best fantasy series out there.

I was wondering if anyone knew some good fantasy coming of age (I guess) books. I want a main character preferably a guy (easier to relate) who uncovers a power or ability that then helps him do something almost unheard of.
I've read Name of the Wind, The Outstretched Shadow, The Way of Kings, Night Angle Trilogy, Red Wolf Conspiracy, And of course WoT.

I just can't seem to find new books that I like anymore.
