if youre just starting out dont fall for the start with the Greeks meme.
check out the /lit/ starterkit in the sticky, read a few books on there first to get a taste for it. then start with a few of the Greeks, maybe some Sophocles, some Homer, whichever appeals to you the most.
Switch it up with relatively famous classic literary works that seem appealing to you, but preferably ones that arent huge fat epics or difficult modernist masterpieces. think stuff like Moby dick, something by Charles Dickens, some Dostoevsky, stuff like that.
see what people here post about or look on the /lit/ wiki. Look up some info online on the books you read, most famous literature usually has a few lectures or interesting analyses for it. Try to connect it to what you know about other books, literary movements, history, philosophy, idk, just think about it critically.
Once you start feeling comfortable reading these, or start getting interested in these big difficult books you keep hearing about you can pick em up, take your time with em, put em down for a while and read something else if they get tiring. keep doing it for long enough and you get 'well read' eventually
