When things get popular people love to hate on it. When it comes to Harry Potter part of it is how JK Rowling has retroactively tried to alter her own work. Dumbledore was gay, Wizards literally shitted themselves before toilets were invented, Harry remained a virgin till marriage, etc.

Guys I'm about to start writing my novel and I just had an idea

What if I write in first person, but from the perspective of someone who isnt the protag, e.g. the best friend, possibly

Would this work? Has it been done before?

I need your thoughts before I start writing

I like this.

It could also easily work in a way that thousands of anon's could contribute. Here me out.

Introduction establishes the premise, ending with Anon being brought before the Pantheon. He requests to be saved from the apocalypse. The Pantheon asks him a series of questions (could be literary, philosophical, existential, whatever), all of which he must answer correctly in order to be saved.

Anon responds to each question with a short story, which shows how he came to know the answer to the particular question (think Slumdog Millionaire, but the stories can be much more abstract. They could take place in any place, time or setting one could think of, as long as it related SOMEHOW to the initial question).

Basically each chapter would begin with a question from the Pantheon and follow with a short story showing how the answer is learned, and finish with the anons answer. And each chapter/short story would be written by a different anon.

One chapter, or a number of chapters, could be exceptionally long, and contain poetry by "the anon", which would give any number of anons a chance to contribute their poetry to the text.

Doesn't matter. If we look at form of the natalist position

doing x that surely causes n amount of harm and possibly a varying amount of joy to y is justifiable/right even when y cannot give consent to said x because my intuition-based probability calculus.

from it one could infer that for example raping a comatose patient while giving her a new pair of silicon tits is justifiable since there's a chance said person will come to appreciate her new assets and will get over being raped even if she was subjected to both without her consent. Either we special plead when it comes to reproduction (most people do this) or we are antinatalists who reject the principle above.

Phil noticed, while contemplating the beauty of a rhododendron, that he was getting big. Really big. His stomach had tripled in size, and was shocked to find out that he was pregnant. After birthing his immaculately conceived bastard in a lukewarm birthing pool, anally, he looked down at the deformed monster and named him Sci.

Sci, although ugly, was a good child, and Phil and Sci had some wonderful times together. As Sci entered his teenage years he became arrogant. He demanded more allowance, he was power hungry, he started taking steroids and grew artificially larger than his aging father.

"I want control of the estate," said Sci in one of his tantrums.

Phil had seen this coming, and let Sci look after Metaphysics and Ethics – a decision he knew he would regret.

Sci did a terrible job. He invented mustard gas, nuclear warheads, cruise missiles, concentration camps, the electric chair, and would constantly tell his father, "It's not 'wrong'. There is no objectivity now, remember?"

But still, Sci still wasn't content with his new power. He started sneaking into the kitchen and slipping morphine into Phil's food.

The old man, now half-sedated, had no choice but to relinquish Logic, and, after an attempted wrestle on the shag carpet, even signed over temporary custody of Epistemology and Aesthetics.

Sci hired a team of henchmen to start writing propaganda for him. They made textbooks, they made brochures, they started touring, experimenting on orphans, and Phil, now weak and frail, was powerless to stop them.

Phil now lays in bed all day, drip fed a saline solution into his weak old body. But he still lives. He knows what is going on, and one day Sci will let his guard down.
