This book is fucking retarded. Funny, but retarded - much like the film Religulous. Its points are not strong, or complex. The whole thing just feels like a few hundred pages dedicated to making fun of religion. I'm an atheist, I'm not a big fan of religion, and I'm especially against religion when it starts playing a role in politics. But this book is a giant waste of time (except for entertainment purposes - it is a fun book), and I can't understand why it's getting so much attention and finding so much success. I'm a fan of Christopher Hitchens, and I respect Dawkins, especially with what he's written on biology. The God Delusion is, in my opinion, beneath him as a writer.

Could anyone tell me if there is a chinese version of the book ? i want to gift it to a friend but her english is not yet good enough to read it.
some kind of online store would be good.

Has anyone read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins?

I don't read too often, but I don't mind a good read here and there, and as an atheist I wonder if it would be a good book and if anyone else has read this and recommends it?

What's your problem with it, /lit/? It's pretty enlightning and clear.

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.

+ A very reasonable argument against religion. The writing was grounded in facts and science rather than subjective opinion and wasn't nearly as arrogant as people claim it to be.

- Dawkins had a tendency to go off on tangents mid argument. His asides on evolutionary biology were a bit impenetrable.

Hmm, i'm curious... Does /lit/ have any really good suggestions for books on religion? More precisely, for those who are thinking about becoming atheists due to questioning their religion. I'm an atheist and i'm looking for some books to recommend to my friends and just to enjoy reading for myself. Note: I've already read The God Delusion.
