While the kindle oasis is a bit excessive if you consider how much time you spend on it you could argue that it is worth it. I do love mine.

Just the fact that with an e-reader I dont depend on a light source makes them worth it for me. Also since I bought an e-reader I didnt pay for a single book

I'm reading Miserable Miracle by Henri Michaux right now its pretty good. It was written in the 70's by some Belgian dude about his experiences with Mescaline.

Also another obscure gem is "Barefoot in the Head". Its an alternative history fiction novel set in the 1940's where the entire french countryside is dosed with an airborne invisible colorless odorless psychedelic that takes days to kick in and dosn't wear off, the book is narrated from the perspective of one dude who gets dosed and as the book goes on he progressively begins to trip harder while society falls apart around him, with the writing style of the book becoming more experimental and trippy as it goes on.

I once saw this shirt on karmaloop and I though to myself, "thats a cool edgy shirt that will make me look like and will give people the impression that I party all the time". Then I asked my mom to order for me and she was like "that shirt is ridiculous anon if you get it you will never wear it" and then I realized she was right and I forgot about it.

an enduring problem with buddhism threads is that people come in and try to argue that some aspect of buddhism or buddhism itself is majorly flawed or is stupid but the people arguing this are doing so without knowing much about buddhism.

Its and endless series of attacking strawmen arguments that are the result of people who dont know much about buddhism saying "Buddhism is just [insert generic generalization] and that it why its dumb" and then they get corrected and either they post some other dumb generalization or they refuse to back down and insist there generalization is correct.

Nothing bugs certain people more then being refuted on there arguments about Buddhism. Buddhism is a very logical system that is for the most part very consistent with itself in that most of its teachings make sense in relation to other aspects of it, you can disagree with ideas of buddhism but you cant dispute that it is ideologically consistent. This greatly infuriates people who want to argue from the view that it is illogical or inconsistent and they really desire to prove it so it becomes a back-and-forth of people presenting a misunderstood-view of buddhism as evidence for the case that it is illogical or dumb and then thinking of something else when they get refuted.

>talking to female-friend on a bus
>she mentions she recently finished reading the entire ASOFAI (game of thrones) books
>she says she thinks because its unpredictable in that you dont know who will die makes it good
>I stare at her for a few seconds, the corners of my mouth start to turn into a smile but I freeze them in place
>she looks at me and goes "what?"
>me: "nothing"

I almost came off as a jerk but I caught myself in time
