You didn't specify books, so I'll recommend Texhnolyze. One of my favorite science fiction works.

What are some Western sci-fi novels similar to Texhnolyze?

Are there any works of fiction similar to Texhnolyze? I'm particularly looking for works which deal with the extinction of mankind; humanity reaching the end of its evolutionary road and declining; humanity collectively losing its will to live; etc. — things of that nature.
