All of the books I've read have been pretty solid. Never blew my mind but enjoyable and well-written non-the-less .

>He faked tuberculosis to get out of the draft

That's seems like something he probably regretted greatly. A stupid decision me made as a youth that haunted him for the rest of his days. He was full of contradictions, possibly to the point of hypocrisy. Or it may have been that he was just always very conflicted and had no real clue what to do.

Books on writing and the struggle of being creative or being a creator, in general.

No self-help books BS or similar guides on how to be really cool and artsy. No magical solutions and recipes.

Just authors that have struggled with creation and wrote down their experience for anyone else to not commit the same errors and/or get some insight on how to approach any creative task.

I found really interesting materials from painters like Duchamp or Kadinsky, but none worth from /lit/erary minds. Any books that helped you understand the creative process and the hell that comes with it?

Looking for some Japanese literature recommendations.
Already read most of Mishima and Murakami's work, thinking about perhaps getting into Kenzaburo Oe.
Otherwise just any general oriental recommendations.

Cut out video games, television, and any movies except really fucking good ones.

I read 3 hours every day minimum. I average a book every two days. My goal this year is 250 books, which I'll probably get close to.

Seriously everyone who birches about it being impossible to read more than a book a week never actually fucking reads. A book a week is like an hour a day of reading, maybe less.

Bookshelves are nice for aesthetic reasons. Also, you can simply sell books you don't like and only keep the ones you do.
