I really hope both of you will find me in this thread.

I never really expected such a comprehensive answer, but I'm very glad you're putting so much effort into guiding an absolute noob.

>You need to understand that this board has a heavy emphasis on prose and ideas over plot and characters.

I figured, but I'm quite ok with that. I'm very open to new ideas and I still feel like I have a lot to learn, discover and experience. Regarding ideas shown and discussed in books, I'm currently reading Starship Troopers. The idea of a society in which only those who have shown dedication to the continuation and protection of society, fascinates me greatly. I'm only 50 pages in, but I'm already digging it. Its also pretty cool to read about guys in powersuits lobbing mininukes absolutely everywhere.

>or perhaps some Dostoevsky
Dostoevsky seems to be a /lit/favourite, although I must admit I have never heard of him. I looked a few resumes of his books and they seem quite weird, but I guess i'll know if I read it.

Reading the first part of Lolita got me quite interested in it. I'll be sure to give it a try when I got the chance.

>Nabokov in general is a master of prose.

I must admit I have never heard of Nabokov either.

And thanks for the top 100 list! I already have American Pshyco, but I find it very hard to read. It is quite dense.

Posting from Mi_ry College right now.

Been receiving a lot of death threats recently and have an inkling that some boys from NYC and DC are trying to set me up. Been cataloguing everything, screenshots, photos... everything you can think of.

I have attached one such image:

So anyway, lit, what's your favorite book?

NRSV, no question.

KJV is art and has been hugely influential in literature and western culture, but if you're trying to learn Christian philosophy go with the champ.

I was changing careers and interested in writing. I came to see what you fuckers could tell me about it, back in early 2015. I very quickly realized you're all mentally deficient, and stayed for the shitposting.

I didn't really browse 4chan at all for much of its existence. I knew about it since it began, and SA before that, and Poe-News before that. The whole place is just so stupid, though, I couldn't be bothered. My main board was formerly /k/. /b/ has always been shit, and all other boards are full of actual human scum.
