You seem to misunderstand my main point. I wasn't pointing out how people believe in what will serve their self-interests. Nor was I trying to make it out to be a grand revelation. Rather, I was just pointing out that the beliefs that many people hold these days are just seemingly reactionary in nature. One could hold beliefs that are in their self-interest while at the same time having those beliefs based on something fundamental rather than reactionary. The Enlightenment and Revolutionary Period had these fundamental beliefs but both the liberal bourgeoisie and reactionary aristocrats were self-interested.
I think you just deliberately misinterpreted what I said so you could make a post that puts me down as unintelligent. That's not nice and you should feel bad. :(
