How old were you when you finished writing your first full-fledged work of fiction? Assuming you have, of course

It's his approach to the postmodern thing, which in simpler words it's what happens when a Frenchman outgrows those silly superstitions and tells Marx and his retarded religion to fuck off forever:
>Marxism is therefore only a limited petit bourgeois critique, one more step in the banalization of life toward the ‘good use’ of the social! Bataille, to the contrary, sweeps away all this slave dialectic from an aristocratic point of view, that of the master struggling with his death. One can accuse this perspective of being pre- or post-Marxist. At any rate, Marxism is only the disenchanted horizon of capital — all that precedes or follows it is more radical than it is
The replacement being the aristocratic critique of capitalism he picks up from Bataille('s reading of Nietzsche).

Read the second chapter of this entry here, or even the whole article:
https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/baudrillard/#2

Ultimately, Baudrillard is a sociologist, not a writer of political action or whichever other prescriptive ethics. This is also true of many of his epigones, readers and imitators. Expecting a solution from a Baudrillard, a Bauman, a Žižek, or whoever else that writes mass produced, 100-150 page booklets belonging to this fad in contemporary "continental" philosophy that I like to call "sociology as first philosophy" is an exercise in futility.

Again, these guys' concern is to tell you in painstaking detail their reading of how, in late capitalism, society is ruining society, not what a first worlder subject can do about it. Oh, and coming up with the next cool famous neologism that everybody in this "genre (of) non-fiction literature" is going to use henceforth.

I pop in once every few weeks to see if /pol/'s stranglehold on this cancerous blister of a website has loosened a little bit, but seeing this board sink with the rest of 4chan is just a bummer. This was a pretty great board up until GamerGate.

Oh well. Even if this website is a lost cause, at least I'll be reading books instead of shitposting about them with community college sophomores.

So I imagine /lit/ is probably one of the smarter boards, and I haven't been here since before the election, but I imagine most of the faggots who post here have probably found ways to rationalize and identify with Trump to be edgy pseuds, right?

If I've only ever known English my whole life, would I ever truly be able to understand another language, no matter how much work I put into it? For my entire life I have thought in English, used metaphors in English, dreamed in English. Do you truly get to know another language, if when learning it you always compare it to your native one?

These things are symptomatic of the corruption and ensuing failure of our current societal structure. They will not last forever. We have been born into the saddest chapter of human history thus far, but as consolation we get to see the world shit its pants over the coming decades, if such a spectacle indeed has any value.

I've read three of him books.

>Cloud Atlas
Enjoyable enough stories, but obvious, contrived and dumb.

>Ghostwritten
His first book, a collection of short stories. Sometimes cool, always pretentious.

>Some book set in Japan
Murakami fanfic. Can't remember a single detail, including the title or the characters' names. Better than Murakami, since at least I can't remember it.

Overall I'd rate the Mitchell reading experience somewhere between cleaning the gunk out of my keyboard and trying a new flavour of cheap potato crisps.
