For there is more meaning to a life that seeks and dies than a life that only dies. Either is worthy but the persuers of are worthier than the slackers for the residue of their life is more than the ash and dust of their bone, however evanescent their persuit be.

The main character's name started with "J", I think.
It was about a man who falls in love with a woman who is either betrothed to or in love with a different man. Stuff happens, he eventually kills himself or something. It was popular because lots of young males did copycat suicides, I think.
