Weird, I always thought character studies were supposed to be as long winded as possible. The goal was to get all the little quirk sand details of the character out, even if most of the details wouldnt be used.

The idea is that if you did this the character wouldnt just take on your own habits and rituals but their own, since you already have this character aligned with certain likes and dislikes. Also these attributes lead to different attributes as the character evolves.

Not defending this though, its only what ive been taught.

I will, but again if I decide to go to graduate school, without any records of going to a therapist, my first year of uni will look like I was just stupid or lazy.

Checking out book at my uni's library is pretty awesome if youre looking for old notes from old readers.

Sometimes though its just unintelligible. The copy of Portrait of the artist as a young man by Joyce I got has practically nothing in it, then at the very last page someone wrote a paragraph of nonsense.

To borrow from Kant, Id rather study for the formal rather than the empirical. The sciences have never really interested me.

Im actually doing research on zen buddhism right now.

Also, I could be completely wrong if there even is a bottom to things. Truth might not follow a reductionist way of thinking. But I dont know
