What is your opinion on info-dumping at the beginning of a story?

I'm an amateur writer and people always tell me that you shouldn't info-dump and should instead let the information flow naturally, but I really can't handle it when the author is withholding basic shit about the world of their book SOLELY to prevent info-dumping.

I'm writing a story right now that takes place on a completely separate plane of existence that requires a lot of explaining and I cannot get my first chapter to look right. Actually I just suck at beginning a story, pretty much. My prologues always look awful except one which was fucking amazing, but I've never been able to surpass it.
