Lots of geographic determinism. I really enjoyed it but I wasn't overly satisfied with (((Diamond's))) overarching claim that "it was all geography an shiet mang". Still fun to read. If you got the same version I have, you're in for a treat with his bonus chapter on ancient Japan at the very end. Best part of the book in my opinion.

Single about two years, since I was 19. No will to start dating again, can't stand anybody. Unironically only communicate with one friend, my parents, and my little brother. Haven't made a friend in like 6 years. This doesn't really bother me though. I KNOW I'll have to sort through piles of garbage to find a nice girl (if I'm lucky enough), so I'm happy to be alone right now. All-online Uni has made my life pretty comfy for the time being, so I've been reading a tonne. I'm not willing to dedicate several hours every day in the hopes of finding some unicorn that I actually like having around. Might lean further into my misanthropy and never date again. We'll see.

The ultimate pill is realizing that everyone else is hopelessly retarded and there is nothing you can or should do to change this. It takes a lot of fucking time and practice, but don't get mad about things you can't change. Realize that this world is complete chaos and stop caring. Have a brew, light a dart, and be content with your existence. That doesn't mean you should rot in a basement and drink yourself to death, but don't let stupid nebulous shit play any role in determining your general happiness man holy God. Interacting with peers from 17-21 showed me the fundamental importance of this, even for someone with an IQ of 126. I cannot imagine how much more poignant this would be for someone in your position. I have a meme degree that led to an easy but consistent and bearable career, so this single realization was THE most useful thing I learned in university. It does get better. We're all gonna make it, bud.
