How do you feel about reading a book after you watched a film adaptation of that book?
Personally, my imagination gets limited. I immediately recall scenes from the film, places, character faces and their expressions, clothing and so on. It feels like watching the adaptation before reading source ruins the reading for me. Anyone feels the same?

I haven't read Pragmatism, but he essentially says in Varieties of Religious Experience that religion "helps carry the burdens which one has to bare in life anyway" or something along those lines, and that, as religion is heavily influenced by our psychological character, it may be that we should have as many religions as there are temperaments, so everyone may live a more fulfilling life. It's an interesting read, and his 'Principles of Psychology' is a wonderful bridge between psychology as science and as philosophy.

What do you guys think about reading translated literature?
I picked few books that I want to read but all of them are originally in English. I feel like those books would be better in original language but I want to read something in my native language to improve my linguistic skill. The problem is that I can't find any native Swedish literature that would interest me.
You think it's a fair trade off to read translated stuff in this, or any other, case?
