What are the best books that deal with the theme of art from a philosophical point of view, so about aesthetic? The only one I've read, so far, is W. Benjamin's "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction". Thanks in advance.

best english translation of guermantes way? for book one i went w/ lydia davis and book two used moncrieff/kilmartin. i liked the former more which inclines me to try treharne's translation for penguin classics, but perhaps moncrieff is the safer option?

The visual arts, by necessity, have to include information that is extraneous/irrelevant to the whim of artist, simply because it part of the object. Thats what I'm referring by "more information" - literature is given freedom at the cost of truth
