Where do I start with this lecherous maniac? Should I even read him? In debates he ignored the ontological argument in favor of associating suffering with God (or religion) and blaming God for man's errors. Seems like a brainlet, but he's fun to listen to.

I’m a citizen of the world echos of citizen of world [Learnsturbation] Charles: I went to film camp. I’ve read Sartre. I’ve read Thomas Pynchon. I’ve read Ayn Rand. I’ve been to Italy. I’ve been to France. I speak French. I’ve been to Spain. I’ve been to South America. I’ve been to Kenya. I’ve been to China. I backpacked across Europe. I prefer tea to coffee. I’ve been to Greece. I love Greek food. I’m a foodie. I’m always on the lookout for a great little place to get breakfast. I sometimes go to Barnes and Noble and lose track of the time. The black people that I’ve met said I have a lot of flavor. I love my MacBook but I also love my MacBook Pro, because it has the word Pro on it, short for prolapsed. echos of prolapsed I drive an ancient Volvo that barely starts. The Matrix and..and Inception are the first movies in the last ten years that made me really think. Yeah I paint, no big deal, I think conventional painting rules are…stogy, archaic. To bend the spoon, you have to realize there is no spoon. Think outside the box. Coexist. Coexist, and one more thing, If you don’t know the difference between your, and you’re and you’re and your, you’re a fucking idiot, get the fuck off my Facebook wall.

>Just had sex with a married woman and I honestly feel suicidal from guilt.

if you are a full blown degenerate you can write a suave noir beatnik style about it, if you still have soul let guilt eat you a bit since you deserve it, it even might build your character

also
Dostojevski "Crime and punishment" is your read

It can't. It's a paradox. As Hitchens said "Of course I have free will, I have no choice."

As you say, if god knew my mind completely, he would know exactly how much to tweak his creation in order for me to believe, to have faith, and to be "saved". He knows this and does not act. Also as Hitchens said "You are created sick and ordered to be well". It's absurd.

And then you tack on *eternal* punishment for any sins left before you die and the whole thing becomes both comical and sad. We humans love to throw around the term eternity but we don't have any grasp of the concept at all. We always try to compare it to a measurement of time, but it has nothing to do with time, it's completely beyond time. Even Hitler wouldn't deserve hell. Hell wouldn't be the place of punishment of an evil god, but a god that had lost their mind completely.

Theists will do mental gymnatics and stick to unplayable metaphysical games to rationalize their beliefs. It's interesting and thought provoking to hear their arguments and argue with them, but after a while you hear them all. Because, by religion's very nature there hasn't been a new pro-religion argument in hundreds of years. As there is no new (or any) evidence for religion, you can only move your chess pieces around the concept of faith.

As science and the age of information progresses we get more reasonable about these concepts and you can see religion generally slowly, gradually dying. I can completely understand and even commend (as an ancient form of reasoning) our ancient beliefs in god(s), but as we progress we lose our need for it. I could go on and on but Hitchens (and the new atheists), Alan Watts, Krauss, Bertrand Russell, they've all said it better than anyone.

>Humans can be both good and bad, so the maximum goodness cannot rest in us. Therefore there must be some other maximum to set the standard for perfection, and we call that maximum God.

>That's an argument? You might as well say, people vary in smelliness but we can make the comparison only by reference to a perfect
maximum of conceivable smelliness. Therefore there must exist a
pre-eminently peerless stinker, and we call him God. Or substitute any dimension of omparison you like, and derive an equivalently fatuous conclusion.
Wow... that's so deep

as an atheist, these neo-atheists such as pic related thoroughly disgust me. they have no decency, no respect, no philosophical insight and no new perspective.
take pic related for example:
> virgin shaming
> over-generalization (e.g. how all priest molest boys)
> autistically screeching about feminism and how women's rights are crucial for a country's prosperity
> all his arguments basically consist of relativizing to the cultural norm (i.e. xy is wrong because I feel like it's wrong)
> hedonistic and decadent slob, drunkard and sex-addict
yet he is considered by many to be one of the most influential writers of our time. really boggles my mind

In the meantime, look at this fat edge lord in pic related
