What are the books you think everyone should read ?

im having a little difficulty navigating all the scifi out there.

just finished solaris and really enjoyed it. i also really enjoyed the forever war about a year ago.

between those two, i've read
a couple of heinlein books and found them either offputtingly sexist or a bit preachy. and the mote in god's eye whose first 100 pages honestly felt kind of phoned in.

i've already read the high school reading assignment type books (fahrenheit 451, brave new world, ender's game, etc) and found them all to be pleasant enough reading.

but otherwise it feels so hit and miss. i'm not really a big scifi reader in the first place, soi guess im just looking for recs that might steer me away from shitty future reading.

Currently started on His Master's Voice, too. I wonder if it will usurp the current champ.

Best science fiction novel in my opinion.

Anyone else read it? Agree with me? Don't? I'm fine with other opinions... but if anyone says Star Wars or some shit I'm going to shit a chicken. Onto the internet.
