Why is most science fiction written by doddering old men that hate progress?

What does /lit/ think of Jurassic Park?

Is the lost world worth reading?

is it just me or is there a dearth of hard science fiction (as opposed to science fantasy) that is based around biology and biological concepts (as opposed to astronomy/physics/computer science)? Sure, there are plenty of biological aliens but these works are usually more science fantasy rather than "speculative fiction" (not trying to be pretentious here, just trying to make a distinction).

pic related is pretty much all i can think of at the moment.

Howdy, /lit/. I was wanting to finally get around to reading Jurassic park.

However, there seems to be a lot of different versions of it. I was wondering which version you recommend the most.

I'm a hardcover man. I like the way they look a lot more than paperback, so I'm only interested in hardcover.
On amazon they have the hardcover as orange, but I can't seem to find any pictures of an orange JP book.

Or, should I just get the Jurassic park and lost world 2-in-1? It's a bit pricier, but I like the way it looks. The only thing I'm apprehensive about it is I hear Lost world isn't that good. I'd hate to pay more just for a prettier cover and another story I wouldn't want/wouldn't like.

I love the film adaption, is the book worth it? I heard it's the exact same thing as the film, but still, what is your opinion on it, /lit/?

Finally got around to read the book since I love the movie.

I thought it was great and wanted to know what /lit/ thinks about it.
