I have some questions about New Sincerity:

>How can I better identify something as NS?
I'm led to believe that it's an attempt to separate itself to postmodernism, and that it takes a stance against irony. It attempts to restore purity.

>Can you list some New Sincerity works outside of literature?
I saw Little Man Tate recently and it feels like it would be an example of NS. Maybe Fried Green Tomatoes? James and the Giant Peach (the movie)?

>Is it still around?
Or has the chaos of the Zeroes and New Tens made us realize that we need genuine postmodernism now more than ever?

Hi there.
First time on this board.
Heard you pretty much worship David Wallace here.
I've only seen that interview of him on Charlie Rose.
But he seems like a tortured artist and more than proficient speaker.
So, my question to you:
Is the greatness of his diction reflected in his work?

Joelle van Dyne in Infinite Jest is described as 'grotesquely lovely' and 'hideously attractive'. It is even suggested that she wears her veil to hide her beauty.

One of the main female characters in The Pale King also has the problem of being objectified because of her beauty.

Do you feel that David Wallace ever felt this way and he expressed it through his female characters?

>One of those emptily craggily handsome old patrician men...
(I.J. p. 285)

Is there any word that DFW didn't predict would become mainstream?

Today, it's four years since the death of the most talented artist of our generation, David Foster Wallace.

Let's have a DFW appreciation thread. No haters allowed:3

Something for you c/lit/s to think about while wallowing away in your insecure and snobbish predisposition for cynical yet sanctimonious condescension towards absolutely any ideas which come from any other than your selves.

Look, bro, you really need to calm down. Read a fucking book, or something. You must be someone from /jp/ that's really mad at me? Huh? If not then you have some serious problems with your perceptual skills, because I'm not any of those things you described.
