This list starts you off nice and easy before delving into serious theory.

Honestly, whenever I hear communism being shit on because of muh human nature, I fucking cringe. Communism doesn't operate on any kind of model of a superior altruistic human. Modern liberalism in fact has a much more utopian view of human society than Marx did. I think this is a problem of separating the early Marx, who comes from a clearly optimistic enlightenment tradition, from the late Marx who is very different with his sober pragmatism.

I don't see why I should have to explain basic concepts that you should already know if, like most people here, you have firm opinions regarding Marx. Also, no you don't have to read the whole Das Kapital to understand these concepts, most of the great works of Marx and Engels are pretty damn short.

The magazine itself is milquetoast but good info and they have some choice contemporary books.

Marxism is definitely a school of literally progressive thought and one should read the older texts but definitely don't get locked into only history.
