post-marxist stuff: critical theory and adorno's essays come pretty close. zizek touches on this too. allow me to try and describe it:
the same way marxist theory accidentally birthed fascism, critical "race" theory accidentally birthed identity politics.
even the name crt is self-defeating. it was originally critical theory, and only in america was it dangerously misinterpreted upon the insertion of the "race" complex. now, the race isn't supposed to mean a racial social construct. instead, race is supposed to mean (in my humble opinion) the human race. but if you're an american who hasn't read hegel and you see "race" juxtaposed with words like "slave" and "master" you'lll think the germans are talking about racism apropos the american canon.
when you turn on american tv, there's a lot of minority representation, no? immigrants, muslims, mixed raced couples, obese women, lgbt, anything but a "rich educated white hetero, cisman." why is this? 10 years ago this was unimaginable. no way there's been THIS much social progress in just a decade. and there hasn't. these corporations putting minorities in ads isn't to champion diversity, it's to sell more product and make profit off of said minorities and anyone who unconsciously pities them. that's the new target consumer. self-identifying fit, rich, white, educated, straight men aren't buying junkfood, cheap beer, used cars, cut-throat insurance, they're buying expensive seafood and wine, flying jets, etc.
it's just the new aesthetic. capitalism is putting the veil of diversity over these uneducated minorities who say "thank you corporation! thank you for letting ME--a poor, uneducated, obese, disabled, mixed-raced, homosexual transgender muslim--consume the product! give me more!" I'm using hyperbole but i hope you get the point. all this marxist and post-marxist ideology is STILL plagued by hegels dialectic that inevitably favors capitalism.
