I'd pick it up. But the three-tier title bothers me. EARTHCLAN: Startide Rising--The Uplift War.

dont go see that shit, no tumor, no neurologist. I had the same problem. People who read a lot, especially if you read in a dim setting (computer reading included) develop either farsight or nearsight or some shit, and you have to go get glasses to fix that. Thats probably where the headaches coming from, is your eye(s) straining to adjust themselves to see things. Thats what happened with me, glasses fix that shit in a jiffy. It also helps to stop reading in dim settings and if your on the computer a lot, tone it down.

Poetry share time? Here is my feeble attempt at an ode to coffee.

Dawn breaks on the horizon, burning bright with the insidious promise
of a future forlorn; discarded liability rests firmly on the working class.
The preemptively powerful pounding and pulsating rhythm
sings the hypnotic hymn of the morning but alas,
regardless of circumstance and harmony, there is something amiss.
Writhing masses of humanity surge forth to suckle from the bitter bosom
and, with acrid aroma, cleanse the morning haze of lethargy. Held in crafts, stainless,
and handled with care, society pays homage, gathering at early morning mass
in honor of the everyday savior.
Brewed with passion, consumed with pride,
it’s the hipster’s hallmark,
the businessman’s bride.
The executive’s remark,
directly pointed and snide,
and the morning loan shark,
bought for time to bide.
None the less there’s still time
without word thought or rhyme
for another black pot
to serve as a restoration’s mime.
Sometimes I do wonder about a life without,
it’s a pandemic endemic, a real mental drought.
With lack of production, apathy prevails
and laziness descends while malice still hails.
Somber mood, warming touch, bitter taste, but still mine,
and I’ll never stay forever chaste, so two creams will be fine.

all things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at any given time is function of power and not truth.

OP is trying to assert his power.
