Do I go for a doctorate in english literature mates? I've completed an undergraduate thesis on the poetic innovations of Hopkins and his influences, and my professors all say I could probably get into a fairly prestigious program. Is it worth it? Will I be fucked or is that just a meme? Will any schools hire a professor specializing in Victorian poetry?

My professor claimed Wordsworth and Coleridge were relatively unimportant figures, both in terms of their actual work and the influence that work had on later writers. She said that Charlotte Smith was actually the most popular Romantic poet, and that her erasure from literary history was done in the early 20th century by sexist male academics. Is she right?

A bit off topic, but what are some good markets for short fiction? Ones that are open to unpublished writers would be great. I know of a handful and can find lists of hundreds more, but I'd like some actual recs from my autistic friends
