Good evening chaps!

Question for you. I received a very special Christmas gift this year, a flask. This coming New-years I hope to christen said flask with an alcoholic beverage, a whisky. You see Im not a very heavy drinker, and i havent quite exposed myself to enough alcohol to know which is best. Can any of you fine gentlemen recommend some fine whiskys to drink neat? Something smooth that wouldnt fuck with your stomach too much?

Good evening /lit/erates!

Ive recently gained an interest in russian formalism. I haven't actually gone as far as to read any yet, as Im still a bit confused as to what it actually is. Is it just literature focused on the usage of literary devices and the words themselves rather than all the historical of cultural connotations that go along with said words?

Im hella confused, what would be the best example of formalism. And as far as russian goes, has anyone actually learned russian for the sole purpose of reading these russian texts?

Good evening gentlemen! I propose a posting of nature themed poems, id rather they be short as I am a rather busy fellow. Il start with one i recently came across, and enjoyed quite exceptionally!

A gaze outside, it looks nice,
forgetting the bite of December ice.

Trudge the land to the frozen dale,
your vision impaired by the frosted veil.

The stinging kiss of winters lips,
the wind that blows and cold that snips.

The warmth of white on a sea of green,
all imperfection lays unseen.

Old man winter roams the lands,
sit by the fire and warm your hands.

Come have a seat and drink some tea,
there's no place in the world id rather be.

Monocle Man here, question about writing.

You see writing a bit of a short story, and its really the first story ive written when the majority of it is dialogue. Im aware that when someone new speaks, you start a new paragraph. So if its a short conversation, it would look something like this;

"Yo wassup mah nigga!" he shouts, approaching me.

"Get out of my face, you silly douche!" I reply, in disbelief at the douchery displayed before me.

Thats not an excerpt from my story, dont worry. But i was wondering, the whole "he says, he replies, he shouts" deal is getting a bit old. Is it acceptable to just have the dialogue, and no acknowledgment as to how he "said" it or "shouted" it? It should be easy to tell whos talking because it reads like a regular conversation, one person then the other.

Tl; dr What do i do instead of "HE SAYS, HE YELLS" ETC.

Good day my fellow /lit/erates!

I come to you with a humble request for a sound read. The only criteria are that it has been published in the last ten years, and has won a Pulitzer, Giller, Commonwealth, Governor General Literary, or Man-Booker prize.

Youre most likely wondering "Well my goodness, this seems like a school project!" Indeed it is, I'm not even positive on what the project is, only that the book must follow these criteria.

So please, any books that you would recommend announce them!

/lit/erates I come to you in my quest for answers. This is an investigation into the origins of the universe and of man. I would ask conduct this little discussion on /b/ if they weren't all so goddamn stupid.

As the objective, rational individuals im sure you all are, I ask you this. Is the theory of the big bang just as or more ridiculous than the theory of creation? Or are they the same, just put in different terms? The magic-sky wizard willing things into existence, VS a mystical ball of energy that explodes into space, and time, and matter.

Both of these options prompt thousands of questions, where did the sky wizard come from, and the ball of energy? They are the same. Is this ball of energy just a scientific God? These inquiries are ramming their dicks into my mind and I'd love to talk about it.

Tl;dr Just read or you're missing out.
