Ah hello friend, right you're literally me so I can answer this question.

FUtD basically is split between two narratives, one of these wolf-like aliens (I won't spoil but needless to say it's fantastically creative) and some human adventures. The human chapters suck ASS and fucking drag the rest of the book down. The alien chapters are phenomenal and balance the entire thing out nicely. For that reason alone I say read it.

This answer also applies to related which suffers from literally the same problem, but with spiders instead of wolves.
