Hey /lit/! I wrote a short novel (about 145 pages). I would say that 80% of it is pretty bad, but its actually got some really great stuff in it. I'm gonna go back and strip most of it away. John Green says that "writing" is actually "re-writing". (he's my favorite author next to J.D. Salinger)

It's a novel aimed at teenagers. The plot(roughly summarized) deals with two kids living on Long Island NY (Kelly and Rich). Rich's father has a job working for the government (he's an astronomer) and Rich overhears him talking to his mother about how "a meteor is coming to destroy the Earth but the government is keeping it secret".

The novel takes place over the last five days of Kelly & Rich's senior year in high school. The day of graduation is when the meteor is "scheduled to hit". It's mostly about how these two kids react to knowing that they only have five days left to live, and what they do with the time they have left.

There's a romantic element because they're boyfriend and girlfriend, but it doesn't consume the text...even though its an important part of it.

Do you think teenagers would be interested in reading something like this? It's not going to be angst-ridden, but a lot of it is drawn from how I grew up.

I like writing about teenagers and for teenagers, it just seems that /lit/ thinks any teenage "romance" is angsty/emo/fake and is instantly discredited. Id love any feedback you guys have to give ^_^

yeah, because one day when you're an established novelist some interviewer is going to ask how your magnus opus started and you'll say, "some random guy on 4chan suggested it and I just ran with it brother"

totally going to happen
