>Fantasy tale with unique elements, shaped into an allegory that examines its own medium by questioning the nature of art
This is the only good story Brandon Sanderson has ever fluked, and it was just a novella published in an anthology rather than its own standalone release. Additionally, it's one of his least popular stories.
There's also an implicit lesson here. If a big name millionaire commercial fantasy author like Sanderson can publish something good and it gains no traction, that should be evidence enough that (You) will never succeed at publishing something good, either. The general public is incapable of consuming good literature, even if it comes from their favorite author.

It was just ok. Kind of a cool concept. But a little short. Just as I was warming up to characters, the story ended. The cheesy karate fight scene at the end was needless.

Out of all of Brandon Sanderson's work, THIS is the one you guys recommend to me? He's got like 50 books, and *this* is the one?
