I used to think I knew what existentialism was about. Then I read some.

Is it just me, or does it seem to be predicated on complete horseshit? I'm not even trolling. It seems completely incoherent to me.

Here's a few scenarios for you:
1. Sitting in philosophy class. Hear students mispronouncing "Sartre." Yes, they're pronouncing it like it's spelled: Sart-ruh.
2. Later. I'm reading Anna Karenina, and another student asks who the author is. "Tolstoy," I say, politely. They ask why that name sounds familiar.
I have enough shortcomings of my own, and I try not to be overly pedantic. But what would you do, /lit/izens?
