Hey there /lit/

What are you currently reading? Tell us our opinion about the book you are reading right now and what you plan on reading after that. Also give people recommendations / ask for them!

Let's start:

I am currently reading Lolilta by Nabokov. I had it laying around on my bookshelf for a while now and I recently remembered it cause there was a thread again how amazing it is and how Nabokov is god tier regarding prose.
Overall I am not really sure what to think about his prose. Mind, that I am not a native English speaker and still read the book in English. While I am pretty content in English, there are still a lot of words I don't know. I would call Nabokov's style ... heavy. I think sometimes he overdoes it with using words. I plan to reread the book in a few month and then write down all the words I don't know into my vocabulary list. Maybe my opinion about Nabokov will change then...

The book I am gonna read next is Infinete Jest. I got the book in a bookstore a few month ago. The price was reduced and when seeing it I remembered that /lit/ talks about it a lot. Either saying is amazing or saying it is total bullshit. So I decided to read it myself.

I work in the rare books department of a library, and we've got lots of interesting stuff. Basically, I oversee the digitization (photography) of material that's going to end up being used for one reason or another, or for simple archiving. I have a folder I named, of course, "interesting stuff". I use a lot of these images for desktop wallpapers. I've been wanting to share some, but...what size? and how? I could mediafire, I guess, or just post them here? Mostly would want to know what pixel dimensions. I use 1680x1050.

pic related. rare printed volumes but also mss and assorted things

everything waaaay pre-23 and copyright free

I work in a library, and have been short on cash lately, (ha! lately!) so I've been having to take books home from here. But I can't stand it, I can't stand reading a book that I don't own. Is that wrong? I want to own the book, and when I'm done I want to be able to see it on my bookshelf. Must be some sort of conquest/ownership thing I've got going on. So even though I love the idea of libraries and working in one, I can't stand to use them to borrow books. Of course I do borrow movies and copy them, but that's different.
