I don't trust guides that doesn't describe the books they're recommending since it seems like the people who make many of them will just include random or vaguely related shit because they don't know any better. They haven't read the books but they feel like they should be included anyway.

Hey /lit/, how do I not be fucking retarded?

When I was a kid I was designated as gifted and my IQ is supposedly above 130 but I fucking don't get philosophy. I can analyse regular books easily but when it comes to philosophy I can't really get anything.

What's wrong with me? Am I just a pseud?

Is there any university in Australia that offers semiotics or aesthetics classes in their arts degrees? Or any kind of literary study that's not geared towards deconstructionism and criticism.

I've been looking online and it seems like it's difficult to avoid the plague of critical theory in the humanities. The "death of the author"and criticism's subsequent rise has done nothing but mean that all aspects of an art being studied are taken out of context and operationalized for their sociopolitical uses.

Or am i just a philistine and postmodern arts degrees good?

This is a good book, but for the love of God do not try to read this book before you have read any Rene Guenon. Read up to "Reign of Quantity and Signs of the Times" at a bare minimum, and this isn't even the best book to start with Evola.

Seriously. You won't understand what in the fuck he is talking about without understanding the basis of Traditionalism.

Really I think you should start reading Traditionalist literature. You seem to have the right disposition for it. Rene Guenon more or less founded the school of thought and his works form the basis. I can't overstate how profound his thinking was. He's extremely obscure, although there is a Traditionalist presence on /lit/.
