Which works? Have a chart. There is a slightly updated version of this chart but I don't have it. It's virtually identical tho

I’m interested in traditionalism/perennialism, but what should I read first before diving headfirst into Guenon and Evola? I know they build off Platonism/Neoplatonism, so I’m gonna make sure to get a good understanding of that first. I have Aldous Huxley’s Perennial Philosophy, is that a good start or is it junk?

Aleksandr Dugin said that 'Guenonian' Perennialism is conservativism in its purest form, I concur with him.

Guenon is the daddy of Traditionalism lole. Very much not an atheist or materialist. Pretty sure he was a convert to Islam but studied many religions

This chart is pretty good but make sure you read 'Man and His Becoming According to the Vedanta' (1928) before any of his later metaphysical works like Symbolism of the Cross, Multiples States, Sacred Symbols etc. They were written after and presume a familiarity with the subject matter of Man and His Becoming, I'm leaving my house atm but I intend to edit this chart soon to fix said issue.

no, start with 'Intro to Hindu Doctrines', from there if you are curious about his metaphysics read 'Man and His Becoming', 'Symbolism of the Cross' 'Multiple States' and 'Symbols of Sacred Science' in that order. If you are more interested in his societal/cultural critique then after reading 'Intro' read 'East and West', 'Crisis of the Modern World' and 'Reign of Quantity' in that order. This chart gets it mostly right but is not perfect

>you're right, I'm going to do my best to bring back authentic initiation and metaphysical wisdom in the West, but I'm not doing it by becoming a Muslim or a Hindu,
This is a strawman argument, he never said or wrote that the west would have to become Hindu or Muslim. In East and West he specifies that he envisaged the intellectual elite of the west rejuvenating traditional Christianity (i.e. Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy) through the study of eastern doctrines, and he further specifies that he recommends them doing so for the purpose of discovering similar traditional metaphysical doctrines in the west's own texts and history and not for the purpose of adopting foreign ideas. He predicts in the same book that if the west fails to do the above then it will either fall apart into chaos/disintegration or that it ill fall sway to Islam, although he writes that this latter option would cause ethnic conflict/violence. The idea that he thought the west would need to adopt Islam/Hinduism/Daoism etc is complete nonsense that people either claim in bad faith or because they are misinformed.

A French thinker who wrote about religion, spirituality, metaphysics and tradition. Most of his writings on religion focus on Hinduism, although he himself converted to Islam. Here's a guide to his books, although I can't tell you if it's any good or not since I haven't read any of his work.

This chart's pretty good, start with his first book, it only gets into Hinduism in the last 3rd and most of it is him just explaining a bunch of the concepts that he references in his later books. Also, I'd add that 'Man and his Becoming According to the Vedanta' is important to his thought and should be read before his later works like 'Symbolism of the Cross, 'Multiple States' 'Sacred Science' etc even though the chart doesn't say so.

This chart is good to follow, start with his first book 'intro to Hindu doctrines', the first 2/3rds barely talks about Hinduism and is just him explaining all the key ideas and terms that he references in his later books. The only thing with the chart I'd change is that 'Man and His Becoming According to the Vedanta' (1925) should be read before 'The Symbolism of the Cross' (1931). All his books are free online here.

>Where do I start with Rene Guenon?
follow the chart

> I have become interested in Shankaracharya and have repeatedly encountered his name as the foremost authority on the subject.
he is the final red-pill on the truth and meaning of existence but you gotta read guenon first or you won't understand him at all
