Just go for math. Takes dedication and is about as prestigious as a philosophy degree in that no one hires math majours that aren't specialized

Hey /g/entoomen

Anyway on writer's block: try writing without pausing and thinking. Came across that exercise here the other day, it does wonders. It takes you to a place you'd never expect.

I remember reading Night by Elier Weasel. Shit was so sad. Then I read about the common holohaux rhetoric and about Bomba's testimonies, the inconsistencies of the Nuremberg accounts from the 'off-the-record' testimonies of 'escaped' prisoners.

Have you mastered breath meditation? Meaning you can penetrate the first few Janas upon 'falling' back?

Just remind yourself that the Buddha got where he is from the breath.

If your story relies on racial gimmicks, thens its probably shit.

Actually no, you'd be an excellent Disney Channel writer.

I memorized my reaction tables by accident (and efficiently) by smelling my study partner's perfume. Too bad we couldn't sit beside each other during the exams.

For value: first gen Kindle.

If you read in the dark, get a backlit one.

I just use my tablet and a ebook reader app. It'd be silly to spend more than 100$ on an e-reader when its merely a free app on tablet.

The label buddhist is even misleading. And yes you can salad pick your beliefs in Buddhism, in the beginning.

As a student I had a hard time believing in rebirth, but I now see rebirth happening every moment. You later find out that they are all connected.

Of course, local theocratic anomalies of buddhism can easily be ignored. I don't even believe the buddha's vision of devas and dragons. I just use the practical parts of the Buddha's teaching.

Of course OP.
Our lives revolve around consuming products planned to be deficient designed to keep us starving and waiting for the next release. We are constantly bombarded by stimuli from all sources... it's actually sad that the modern man has no time to evaluate his life and where it's headed.

This is why buddism or any mental training practices are so attractive today, especially to westerners. You can remain secular and still lead a spiritual life.

It's also good to hear some Dhamma talks. These are great, especially the morning ones, for your morning meditations.

I'm only referring to the concept of choice
His writings are neither here nor there
I find him a bit dull as an author, but it's the idea about choice even in the face of certain death that appeals to me

Sartre may be overrated, but he's still important
I really like his views regarding choices
Nothing annoys me more than faggots going on about being forced to do things
