hi /lit/. i have a teen kid who is keen on joining the air force or some other military branch (space force??). i'd like to find some good military fiction for him. any recommendations? he read starship troopers and really enjoyed it, but i think something a little more contemporary and LARPy would help to better inform him about what military service is and can be.

it's definitely not what i was conditioned to expect by media and popular culture in general. i'm around 2 kings of the old testament, and it's extremely enlightening. yahweh of the old testament is one of my favorite characters from any books ever.
