>the Stephen Addis / Stanley Lombardo translation (published by Hackett)
the translation is the best I've encountered
the book itself is also a work of art, containing illustrations by calligraphy masters and the first like ("title") of each section in Chinese characters

>biology podcasts
nobody asked me for recommendations about these ones
so for sake of providing a complete nutritious table, here they are

In Defense of Plants
> http://www.indefenseofplants.com
in-depth podcasts about plants and their ecosystem (bugs, animals, climate etc.); more often than not takes a broader view

The Field Guides
> http://www.thefieldguidespodcast.com/
similar to the above but takes a more narrow view, sticking to the topic

>In 2005, listeners were invited to vote in a popularity contest for the "greatest philosopher in history" with the winner selected as the subject of the final programme before the summer break. With 30,000 votes cast, the contest was won by Karl Marx with 27.9% of the votes

>nutritious
at the end of the day it's actually better to eat carbs, as proteins require more work to digest and absorb more slowly (i.e. you won't be able to sleep well or at all); sometimes a big bag of potato chips is just what we need. well, aside from the anal leakage part maybe

eating a big bag of potato chips is not bad (only calories in & calories out count) although it prevents you from eating more nutritious foods in its place
check out these >>11023325 as they are half way between chips and a tuna salad

it's ok but the episodes coould have been 4 to 5 times shorter if he cut out the unnecessary words; it's really a pity he "dilutes" it as he seems to know what he's talking about

Occult of Personality
>https://occultofpersonality.net/available-shows/
could be said that it's beginner level but the people they interview all know what they are talking about and drop many nuggets of wisdom (aside from healthy thought flow and thinking); a pleasure to listen to

Rune Soup
> https://runesoup.com/
focuses more on the social & cultural side of things rather than the spiritual & practical
keeps an eye on current releases, events, personalities which is really nice although a bit tiring after a while

Mysterious Universe
> http://mysteriousuniverse.org/category/podcasts/
this thing never gets boring, even if they focus a bit too much on bigfoot (especially when nothing is happening IRL); the conversation flows and the news they dig up or report on are somehow always relevant; only rarely (once every 4-5 episodes) they dip into the occult but it's well worth it
be aware it has no httpS

ArtTactic
> https://arttactic.com/podcasts/
is kind of repetitive but if you listen to a few shows you get the gist of where things are/are heading... so you only need to check it once every few years

The Modern Art Notes Podcast
> https://manpodcast.com/
A crossover between art history and art world, quite interesting but it somehow manages to not give you any insight into the subjects they focus on. The podcasts are also long and wanky, mainly because of the obnoxious hosts. On the other hand, the interviewees are nice.

Some podcasts I listened too (specialty and conference recordings) from Tate and MOMA seem to have been discontinued.
There was also a podcast about the artsy fartsy audio art world but can't find it

Here's a snippet from the chapter on Metal Gear (1987, MSX)

>Disregarding the plot in the Japanese manual completely, they made up their own villain, replacing Big Boss with somebody named “Vermon CaTaffy”—a thinly veiled jab at Muammar Gaddafi, a prominent enemy of the USA during the 1980s. As usual, they made it their job to “spice up” what seemed to be a boring fare, replacing bios of characters, renaming them, and making wacky attempts at Reagan era political satire. You could hardly blame them, though. The name “Big Boss” was nothing to brag about, after all. Still, it's a bizarre move considering the words “Vermon CaTaffy” don't appear anywhere in any version of the game. In fact, according to the manual, your unit commander is somebody else named “Commander South”, who also isn't mentioned in the game. The list of inconsistencies goes on, but perhaps the most embarrassing is the mission description, which claims Solid Snake’s mission is to “seek out and destroy Metal Gear, nothing less,” even though it's impossible to do that in this version.

>To make things even more confusing in the West, Scholastic published a Metal Gear novelization in 1990 using the names and story elements of the NES version’s manual, touting itself as “the complete story of the Nintendo action-adventure game.” It was not officially affiliated with either Nintendo or Konami/Ultra Games and even admits as much on its title page, but it’s easy to imagine fans of the game picking up the book back in 1990 and taking it as the full version of the game’s story as it claims itself to be. It was simply titled “Metal Gear,” after all, with no subtitle to set it apart from the game. In a way, the book was part novel and part strategy guide, offering hints and tips on how to get through tough parts of the game while using the NES manual’s story as a jump-off point for the plot and spiraling out from there, making a myriad of absurd claims and assertions.
