So it's clever on the level of Harry Potter? How very deep and totally not for children.

My theory is the following: People who actively voice such opinions in earnest (les funnie edgy troles don't count) might actually not be able to feel any sort of attraction beyond sexual desire to strangers outside of their families. Because to not acknowledge the interpersonal, "feels" aspect of sex sounds either deeply dissappointed or sick. Maybe the hormones don't go where they're supposed to.

While "matriarchy" was rarely possible, it did exist, but early civilisation (before humans domesticated animals and stayed in one place for more than two months at a time) was a more or less an egalitarian society like the Khoisan's today, because... I don't know, something about agriculture and shepherding was favourable to men but not to women. My best guess is that the stronger one who didn't get pregnant (the man) could defend his flock and field more efficiently and because he could do so, he'd say "I'm more important than you, because whithout me our pets would be killed and our grains stolen, so I tell ya hwut", and this way it could've started. But we're gonna need more evidence.

If you want to discuss /pol/ themes in the style of /pol/ rhetorics, go to /pol/. I'm just glad you haven't brought up an "infographic" yet.

it jumep the shark when it tried to call itself heroic fantasy after 120 pages of "wizard needs food badly", which could've been easily solved by any other human being by simply asking his friends.

what amuses me in all the wrong ways is that a juvenile power fantasy like this prides itself on being "deconstructive", when all it deconstructs is narrative structure ("the main plot you say? haven't seen that since 800 pages ago!") and the page limits of fantasy novels. It's neither fantastic nor novel in any way either.

All I'm saying is that you'll realise all this after reading the good book. You'll be tempted to relate yourself to Bastian just like you did with Kvothe. You'll learn.

>accepting injustice

"you know what, let's burn down Ambrose's hotel because he's a mean mean meanie!"

>responsibility (at all)

"you mean Denna is in danger??? too bad, gotta go fuck a fairy and learn kung fu, sux to be her I guess"

>threat of poverty and war

>fear of losing some one
see "responsibility"

>growing older

"ohmygod I'm almost 26, my life is so over, I'm an old old man! Woe is me!"

>hard choices

"should I wear my shade-cloak or my noble's clothes from Vintas... choices choices"

>politics at all

"are you a bad enough dude to rescue the mayor's money?"

I'm afraid you're projecting way too hard.

screaming in anger at people who aren't even there is clearly the new shit, I see. No wonder /pol/ comes to visit every other day when /lit/ is appearantly already susceptible (sp?) to plebeian info-graphic babby politics.

it is an easy way to make your story seem "adult" and "gritty", without actually having to deal with actual adult themes such as racism, classism, accepting injustice, responsibility for children or spouses, the threat of poverty or war, fear of losing someone dear, growing older and weaker or having to choose between two equally bad things, or even how your political views measure up to reality. None of these easily exploitable themes are brought up because hinting at rape is just easier and everyone's already doing it. Fantasy writers think of it as a shorthand for "grown-up fiction for real adults", but it really started to look like grade A edgemeistery after the second time, doubly so if the author has not even bothered to talk to or read about rape victims and their experiences.

Maybe you just get a free pass on such things if you're a white neckbeard writing pleb fantasy.

I'd like you to read the Neverending Story, carefully. Take notes if you must, and then re-read Kvothfuss. If you can't see the overblown, meaningless pathos, the one-dimensional characters and the horrid pacing (500 pages "wizard needs money badly", each book, no progressing of the main storyline at all) now, you will then. And you'll thank me.
