I want to second this. Prehaps my opinion can be written it off because it was my first 'king book and therefore has sentimental value... but The shining always struck me as one of his more structured works. The Ending scene where Father Overpowers posession to save the son was a very elegant act of drama. I also enjoyed the fact that king provided an exceptionally coherent story background for a change, where Dannys presence to supernatural events was a trigger regardless of if the reader was aware of it or not
tl;dr: I liked it

Irritating because it strikes me as another instance of the rather ridiculous lengths anons will go to to appeal to femanons most likely living in an entirely different country. Would you offer to buy a book for a man? 'course not, so don't deny it's not a romantically inclined purchase.

It's your money brosef, do with it what you wish. But honestly, it has derp value

I never finished this one, I ended up getting tired of Stephen King and it's still sitting on my shelf with a bookmark to this day.

It seemed pretty decent, however. I've noticed that his early novels tend to be much more tightly plotted than wheat is written later on.

Eh, I've never really considered dean much of a forced meme. I'm not intentionally trying to transmit the .jpg's to an audience for download. The same cannot be said of the Huge Orson Welles "meme"- which is almost entirely forced by 1-2 tards at most. It doesn't even have a /lit/ relation outside of some tardish typo.

Quite possibly the most forced meme to appear on /lit/ to date

Doctor Kashmire > Huge Orson Welles

I guess underage kids having a gang-bang in the sewers isn't really considered preverse anymore, is it.

Meh

I for one don't mind /x/. They have great stream sites, Decent original content, and on top of that a reasonably friendly atmosphere for the board. More than can be said of /lit/ at times

If you seriously think you're going to enflame a war between boards, you'd best be joking. Gb2 /b/

now theres something I didn't know.
Considering Colombus was later arrested and treated like shit by the very people he discovered a new continent for, I wouldn't think his example is something many people would want to emulate

I only have a faint memory of Congo. Only really remember apes with sticks over-running sentry gun perimeters like trained commandos

I remember reading this when I was younger and being coompletely immersed in the narrative

and then afterwards attempting vainly to maintain killer apes who beat people to death with big sticks in a manner not unlike Jurrassic Park's Raptors made complete sense.

Its a flimsy technothriller in the jungle. Just have fun with the adventure while it lasts

Hmm, those books certainly aren't the first thing I think of when I hear scifi.

Wikipedia definition of sci-fi: Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with the impact of imagined innovations in science or technology, often in a futuristic setting.[1][2][3] It differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation). Exploring the consequences of such differences is the traditional purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".[4] Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possibilities.[5] The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality, but the majority of science fiction relies on a considerable degree of suspension of disbelief provided by potential scientific explanations to various fictional elements.
