Shit man, Surfer's paradise? That place is a shithole, the only reason to go is the guitar stores on mermaid avenue and the couple of skate stores and record stores. They don't even have decent book stores.
I used to live in Southport, shit was still sucky, but at least they had some decent used book stores

I like the idea of a kindle, because I can reduce my book budget to less than zero
That being said, I like being a pretentious douche, and being complemented on whatever book I'm reading. Plus, you can lend books to friends, and I've gotten many friends into reading that way
Plus, books are pretty cheap, especially if you buy used, and they're nice to have on a shelf
A kindle is more practical, but I don't see myself getting an ereader unless books become digital only (which may happen. Look at the way the music industry has shifted with bandcamp, etc)
