well, from what i have been taught in school (you can't really trust those guys cant ya?)
after the Hebrews founded a country (the few thousands years ago one) the Hebrews decided to write their country's history and religious point of view.
all their neighbors had their history and religion all-ready written and the silly Hebrews were jealous and wanted to write something even better and more awesome. thats why there are a lot of mythical creatures mentioned in the bible, the new-founded-country's neighbors believed in them and the hebs wanted to write about their god kicking the ass of the other gods.

actually, I agree with you, every thing he writes feels to me just to fucking fake. he's a nice read over-all, but if feels like he's faking is all persona just to be "the cool writer".
he does have a few good poems though.

so, what do you guys think about this book (or about Bukowski in general)
It actually reminds me of The Catcher In The Rye only if Holden was poor, ugly, living in L.A, and not whining as much.

oh please, Vonnegut has no age limit.
I'm 24 and i still enjoy him, my parents are more than 50 and still enjoy him.

I read the old testament 3 or 4 times (in the original Hebrew), i live in Israel so I had bible studies in high school, we learnt it from a non-religious point of view and it was actually really interesting. surprisingly they even told us that most of the Genesis book was stolen from the Babylonian mythology.
but judging it as a peace of literature is impossible, there were allot of different writers for every book, there are even some books written in Aramaic.

>Do not go gentle into that good night / Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
