I'm reading The Guns of the South, the first book by Turtledove I've read, and I fucking love it. Turtledove is one brilliant motherfucker.

I used to write short little picture books when I was 6, and longer stories when I was 8 or 9. I wish I still had my first stories. I would totally post them if I had them. I have my first published short story, from college, one of the only older pieces I have that's not fanfiction. I'd be willing to post that piece of garbage.

A group of time travelers from South Africa supply the Confederate army with AK-47s and battle plans that allow them to win the Civil War. The book goes on to deal with the fallout of this, but I don't really know the details of the rest of the plot and I don't want to spoil too much by looking it up. My husband minored in Civil War studies, I like forcing him to speculate how history would have changed if the Confederates had been successful, I'm fascinated by that piece of history.

Oh god sweet tea is amazing. I'm a carpetbagger, we didn't have that shit in the great white north. Moving south of the Mason Dixon line was the best thing I've ever done.

On a slightly related note, I'm starting Guns of the South tonight. Anyone read it? I know there are some Turtledove faggots on this board.

Imprinting is slightly creepy at best, like the guy who fell in love with a 6 year old or whatever and stopped aging until she caught up to him, and downright fucked the hell up, like Jakob being in love with Bella's egg. Wtf, Smeyer.

I can't ignore Twilight threads. Fuck.

Tis is excellent. Teacher Man is as well, which follows third in the chronology of those books.

Malachy's written quite a few books as well, they're not bad in and of themselves, but they're shit compared to Frankie's.

Fuck yeah geocaching.

Honestly, I think poison is your best bet, scandalous and not too convoluted.

Choke was the first of his books I read, and I rather liked it. I alternate between kind of liking Palahniuk and wanting to gouge my eyes out at the mention of his name.

I have a package of shit my husband's ex got in the mail from him. He wrote her a letter, sent a bunch of signed bookplates, and a mess of miscellaneous dollar store toys.

I dropped out of art school, spent a couple years dicking around with night school, now I'm a stay at home mom. I read when my kids are napping.

Take the commuter rail out of North Station. It lets off at Thorndike St by the common in Lowell, I'm not sure how far it is to the graveyard from there, though. I think the train ride is about 45 minutes or so.
