What do you think of this as a kernel for a short story:

Last weekend I had nothing to do, so when I came across a somewhat pretty female beggar I offered her 4 pounds and invited her to have a cup of coffee in order to amuse myself. I chatted with her and she did not have much of a story behind her (abuse family, ran away, the usual shit). After she finished her hot chocolate, she told me that she had not had a shower in a while and wished she could, so I invited her to have a quick one in my room at the campus. She went out of the bathroom door naked, one thing led to another and we had sweet sweet sex (first time for me in a while). Afterwards, I thought that I should at least let her sleep in for the night, but was afraid she might rob me while I am sleeping, so I politely asked her to leave and she left with tears in her eyes.

I haven't exercised my creative writing skills for a very long time and now I am interested in building a world setting from scratch for my own gratification. However, I am pretty lost as where to begin!

I used to be an avid reader as a teenager. I then went to college, gone depressed and have almost not read anything for 6 years (I passed - with flying colors - thanks to my super short term memory). I have started reading again almost a year ago and reading is seriously difficult for me, it is scary at times!

I do not mean that I am not able to read the print, but I mean that staying attentative and comprehending what I read has become a nightmare.

So how can I train myself to read again?
