>I'm a 21st century person goddamit

Woe! Hurt! Your willful ignorance is surprising to me, a thinker who challenges himself with perspectives and conundrums that were formed millenia ago and still remain unanswered

The world has existed for quite sometime and if you wish to understand and appreciate it as it is today then I pray that you will look to the texts of the past (which remain ever potent in this bleak present).

A Couplet:

The poster: proud, ignorant, anonymous
The Jew: holding tight to his yarmulkes

>Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed.
I agree

>I am not a fan of books.

But HOW?! Books are our everything; they generate formal thought, store information, refine our cultures, question our very natures and assumptions, they are perhaps the great form of entertainment, etc, etc, etc!

> I would never want a book's autograph
Books are not sentient (in a biological sense) and they lack arms and hands: they cannot give autographs.

> I am a proud non-reader of books.
This man (a rapper, I am told) has offended me. Perhaps controversy was his ultimate goal in making this statement?

Hola mi amigo!

I suggest you build a strong base in one language before moving on to another; it is better to have mastery in one area than to be a dilettante in many: as you are a primarily English speaker (I assume), French, German, or Spanish would suit you well since they are all practical and easy to learn.

Quite frequently. However, I can endure their scorn, as I am quite confident in both my intellectual prowess and the raw skill of tongue which has sent many would-be-defamers reeling

This is not related to the topic of literature.

I deliberately avoid erotic satisfaction of any kind as I am a firm virgin who refrains from masturbation, just like the hero of my youth, Thoreau: only upon freedom from such confines as sexual pleasure will you know true inner peace, Original Poster. I suggest a life of celibacy, and I hope that you will not continue to damage your mind with such abuses of literature and the body.

Top success! I am happy for your intellectual victory, Original Poster, The Outsider (or The Stranger, as it is often translated) is a milestone in thought and literature for many a young man. Enjoy the fruits of philosophy it bears for you, be they sweet or sour

I am a staunch anarchist with Marxist leanings, but I do not prescribe to any established political thinkers and writers as far as I am aware due to the largely theoretical nature of my work.

Such venom! Fellow forum-browsers, I query: Why does any public intellectual activity immediately cause the general public to resort to accusations of pretension? Reading is not an inherently pretentious act, even such tomes as The Iliad or Gravity's Rainbow are applauded for the entertainment one derives from the act of processing their plot, prose, and text. Consider, could this video satire simply be an expression of its makers' insecurities? He seems to be offended just by the simple act of reading a novel in front of others!

Like most of The Onion's videos and articles, it is a decent quip but its execution was overlong and clumsy.
