House of Leaves was interesting to read, but it isn't one of my favorite books. The use of typography is very creative, but the plot itself is kinda...eh. I don't flat out recommend it, but it might be a book worth reading.

I don't know other horror books right off the bat, sorry. /x/ might know a couple, though.

I decided to read yours since others seem to like it, and it was very nicely written. You are great with wordings things, especially the imagery. The ending was great, too, because I felt that powerful feeling as I read the 'thunder' and then it was all gone when I read 'word', thus leaving me with that empty feeling people get after finishing a book.

Wrote this one some time ago after having a bad day.

Send thine aching spirit; gone
The pestilence of cowardice and shame
Break free from stilled chains,
This evanescence of my soul
Runs down the streams of consciousness
And I am undone.

We stand upon the brittle bones of society,
It's days gone by in shame.

To see another black rose born
And to be gazed upon with scorn
By the Devil's might and hell's ablaze
Fills me with great sadness,
Because I cannot abandon
These sibylline sentimentalities.

So here I suffer,
Perplexed by self-inflicted loneliness.
Ah, such is youthful wanderlust
To worlds not meant be travelled to.

I'm in love with Isaac Asimov's Robot series. While I feel like most of his sci-fi books have the same plot or are a little predictable, those 4 particular books of his captivated me.

Haven't read your book though, OP.

Well unfortunately it's turning out a bit retarded at the moment and I need to re-edit it like there's no tomorrow, so maybe some other time? :P

The popularity WOULD be nice, but I wouldn't want my fans to be raving girls and soccer moms. I'd want intelligent fans who could appreciate my book in more ways than just the characters.

I would polish my book to completion and send it around to publishers, maybe post my other works on websites to promote myself as a writer, etc. Too bad I'm too lazy to finish that damn book. Good luck with yours though!

Yeah. They don't appreciate Twilight because of how it is written, but because of the cliche' romance, "hot" guys, and that retarded Bella. The actual book isn't anything amazing, and I'd rather write a book that I can be proud of and let others enjoy it, too. On top of that, I'm not good with too much criticism, so I would be very careful about how I would write it.

Agreed. I mean, who would want a shitload of haters bitching about your book nonstop when you can have one that isn't as famous but is also very well-written. Also I wouldn't want all that pressure to write more for the fans and turn it into a movie, bla bla bla.

My plan: Become a millionaire by other means of work instead of writing a shitty book that little girls can fap to, then write a literary masterpiece. Use my money to promote the book, and maybe it will get noticed. But I refuse to lower my standards to crap like Twilight and make a living off of it.

It is good, but in terms of the writing style itself it isn't anything special. Think of Dan Brown; good plot and interesting ideas, but the writing is pretty common.

It might be laziness, but I know what that feels like. Being alone and living in New York, and yet life kinda just goes by in a blur. Try out writing though, it may draw you in so you won't have to suffer all day.

Started one, got up to around 15 pages and dropped it. I have a bad habit of ending stories when I get bored with them or when I get a new idea that I really want to work on. There's a whole folder filled with ideas and unfinished books in progress on my computer. To combat this, I usually write short stories or poems to get myself in the mood. Hopefully when I go to Pennsylvania, I'll be able to write more because of the calm atmosphere and little distractions. Good luck on those novels, guys!
